Maderista on Horse, Juarez, May 11, 1911
On the day after the Battle of Ciudad Juarez, May 11, 1911, my grandparents Alfred and Annie Kleyhauer and other Americans went from El Paso into Juarez to see the city and Pancho Villa's rebel fighters Image Description:Scanned image of a black and white photo from 1911. The photo is of a Mexican revolutionary man sitting on his brown horse in the desert. The reigns are simple and made of ropes. The man wears a large, brimmed sombrero with a black suit, white top, and vaquero boots. There are people in the desert with him. Two young children stand directly to the side of his horse. An elderly woman looks off into the mountains while sitting on a rock. A second man leads his horse by the reigns. The mountains can be seen faintly in the distance, while a large ominous smokestack blows into the atmosphere.
