The picture shows the Alta Vista Elementary School in the 1910s. The school opened its doors in 1912 to 148 students, three teachers and the Principal. It was constructed to meet the growing needs of what was then considered El Paso's East Side.

My Father has a certificate for being in the Safety Patrol in 1943. The Principal was Pearl Crockett, who signed the certificate.
My father was caught speaking Spanish at the school in the 1940s and was punished badly. I´m glad things have changed for the better.
