Sara Perez de Madero

Sara Pérez de Madero (1870-1952) fue la esposa del líder de la revolución y a breve plazo presidente mexicano Francisco I. Madero. Igual que Francisco, Sara nació en el seno de una familia acaudalada. Se conocieron en San Francisco, donde ambos estudiaron. Sara era amiga de las hermanas de Francisco. Sara y Francisco se casaron en 1903 en la Ciudad de México. Sara llegó a ser socialmente activa, tratando de mejorar las condiciones de vida de los pobres, enfermos, desamparados y huérfanos. Ella apoyo las actividades de su marido contra el régimen de Porfirio Díaz y estuvo a su lado durante La Batalla de Juárez. Ella se encargó de cuidar a los heridos. Cuando Madero fue asesinado durante su Presidencia en 1913, Cuba le otorgó a ella asilo político. Sara entonces vivió en Nueva York antes de regresar a México.
