Owen P. White
Own Payne White, escritor y editor, fue el segundo hijo de Alward y Katherine J. (Payne) White, nació el 9 de junio de 1879 en el Paso Texas. White se graduó de El Paso High School el 27 de mayo de 1896, asistió brevemente a la Universidad de Texas en Austin en 1898 y regreso a El Paso a los pocos meses. Estudió leyes en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU) pero nunca se graduó. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial ascendió al rango de sargento trabajando en una unidad médica. El 22 de enero de 1920 se casó con Hazel Harvey y ese mismo año empezó a trabajar como columnista del periódico El Paso Herald. Publicó el libro "Out of the Desert" que habla de la historia local de El Paso, obtuvo favorables opiniones en el New York Times y llamó la atención de H.L. Mencken, editor de American Mercury.
