El Paso High Centennial Commemoration Tiles
El Paso High Centennial Commemoration Tiles
The second installation of El Paso High Centennial Commemoration Tiles on a wall adjacent to the Library/Cafeteria Building. The lyrics on the center art for that installation are the familiar refrain from "The Orange & Black," El Paso High School's original and unique fight song composed by brother of one of the graduates in El Paso High's Class of 1887. One tile depicted is in dedication to Clarence D. "CD" Jarvis, head baskeball coach of EPHS from 1944 through 1985. presume you refer to the walls of tiles sponsored by EPHS alumni on the rear of the press box, a wall adjacent to the Library/Cafeteria building, and on the facade above the stadium concession stand. The Centennial Commemorative Tile Project was created and operated by the El Paso High Tigers Friends & Exes as a way to add to the 100-year anniversary of the 1916 El Paso High School building and RR Jones Stadium. The tiles are a representation of the appreciation by students during the buildings' first century to the students who will populate the building and campus during it's second century. Funds raised by the project have funded landscaping and purchase of concrete benches and tables on the campus.
