"Yo, Thaddeus Kosiuszko, habiendo partido de América, (...) autorizo a mi amigo Thomas Jefferson a otorgar a (los esclavos) la libertad en mi nombre, y darles una educación en comercio u otro oficio. 1798 (...)". El testamento Ingles del general Kosciuszko se convirtió en un documento político inmensamente importante, planteando la cuestión, sin ser resuelta por la Revolución Americana, de la Esclavitud Afroamericana. Este problema también fue notado por los polacos que tuvieron la oportunidad de viajar por la joven república."
