Josephine Clardy Fox, wealthy real estate investor turned philanthropist, left the bulk of her estate to UTEP when she passed away in 1970. Born in 1881,her family moved to El Paso, Texas in 1882. She married Eugene E. Fox in 1916. She traveled extensively and was a patron of the arts. Some of her furnishings are in Hoover House the residence of UTEP's president. The Fox Fine Arts Center on UTEP's campus honors her generosity to education.
