La radio emisora llegó a El Paso en la década de 1920. La compañía Mine and Smelter Company, bajo el indicativo WDAH, salió al aire en 1922. El gobierno federal movió el límite que divide sus señales de llamada este-oeste en 1923, por lo que todas las estaciones de radio y televisión posteriores de El Paso usan K como su distintivo de llamada . La electrónica de los primeros radios residenciales dependía de los tubos de vacío de vidrio, por lo que eran grandes, diseñados para mezclarse con los muebles, y tenían que enchufarse a una toma de corriente.
