La imagen muestra el Hotel Orndorff, ubicado donde actualmente está el edificio Cortez, en la esquina de North Mesa y Mills Avenue. Originalmente llevaba el nombre de Hotel Vendome, pero en el año 1899 lo compró la Sra. Alzina DeGroff y lo nombró Hotel Orndorff. La Sra. DeGroff lo administró por más de veinticinco años, hasta 1924, año en el que pidió un préstamo de 825.000 dólares y contrató a la reconocida firma de arquitectos de El Paso Trost and Trost para diseñar un nuevo hotel. Desafortunadamente, la Sra. DeGroff no vivió para ver el edificio terminado, ahora conocido como edificio Cortez.
