Consejo UTEP KOC Del Norte - 1928 ((Colecciones Especiales) El Paso's Knights of Columbus (Los Caballeros de Colón de El Paso) fueron el primer concilio en Texas y el primer Consejo de habla hispana en los Estados Unidos. Lucharon contra el Ku Klux Klan y establecieron cabañas de KC durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. En los años 20, los Caballeros de Colón fueron decisivos para resistir la toma de posesión de Gobierno local en El Paso por el Ku Klux Klan. En abril de 1922, el Klan dirigió exitosamente una lista de candidatos para el consejo escolar. Una vez en el control, utilizaron reuniones secretas para despedir directores de escuelas católicas y varios miembros del personal católico. El abogado William H. Fryer, miembro de los Caballeros, encabezó el esfuerzo para remover a los miembros de Klan de la junta escolar. Fryer y otros activistas anti-Klan siguieron a los miembros de KKK a reuniones secretas y anotaron los números de la matrícula y luego hicieron públicos los nombres de los Klansmen (hombres del Klan).
