Catedral de St. Patrick - 1920

Ubicado en el centro, la Catedral es una obra de arte y es uno de los hitos históricos de El Paso. La construcción comenzó cuando la primera piedra fue colocada y bendecida por el Padre Edward Barry S.J. y el Padre Francis Roy, S.J. el 31 de julio de 1914, la fiesta de San Ignacio de Loyola y se dedicó el Día de Acción de Gracias el 29 de noviembre de 1917. La firma arquitectónica de Barnett, Haynes y Barnett de St. Louis diseñó la iglesia. Los contratistas fueron Kroeger, Mayfield y Shaw de El Paso. El estilo es una mezcla de arquitectura bizantina y románica. Juntos, el clero y los habitantes de la ciudad construyeron la Catedral como una hermosa expresión de Fe que proporcionó un ambiente edificante para el culto católico y un lugar inspirador para la oración privada. Ya sea que haya venido a orar o simplemente a ver la belleza, esperamos que se nutre en espíritu y vuelva a la Catedral de San Patricio. El 3 de abril de 1914, el Vaticano bajo el papa Pío X elevó y estableció El Paso como una Diócesis. En junio de 1915, después de la muerte del Papa Pío X, el Papa Benedicto XV nombró al Rev. Anthony J. Schuler, S.J., como primer Obispo de la Diócesis de El Paso. El obispo Schuler anunció que a su llegada a El Paso planeaba tomar la nueva iglesia de San Patricio como su Catedral.
