Fue contratada por el departamento de policía de la ciudad como detective de la escuadra de los vicios, una asignación que desempeñó durante más de un cuarto de siglo. Durante sus veinticinco años de carrera, arrestó a más de 20.000 mujeres. Detuvo a más de noventa seis por ciento de los violadores de la ley de El Paso desde 1929 hasta su jubilación en 1952. Fue una de las dos policías femeninas en El Paso y se encargó de todas las mujeres presas confinadas en la cárcel de la ciudad y llevar a cabo Investigaciones de mujeres involucradas en la prostitución y otros delitos similares.
