9NA DIVISIÓN DE INFANTERÍA "VIEJO FIABLES" COMBATES MUCHOS INLCLUDE GUERRA DE VIETNAM ERA UNA UNIDAD IMPORTANTE EN LA SEGUNDA GUERRA MUNDIAL Y VIETNAM ACTIVA COMO UNIDAD DE PREPARACIÓN DE PEACTIME DE 1947 A 1962 EN FORT DIX, NUEVA JERSERY Y FT CARSON, COLORADO, DE 1972 A 1991 EN FT LEWIS COMO UNA DIVISIÓN DE INFANTERÍA DEL SERVICIO ACTIVO EN FORT LEWIS, WASHINGTON LA INSIGNIA DE MANGA DE HOMBRO ES UN "OCTOFOIL" QUE SE ASEMEJA A UN DISEÑO HERÁLDICO QUE EL NOVENO HIJO DE UNA FAMILIA. ESTO REPRESENTA AL HIJO COMO CENTRO DE UN CÍRCULO INTHE CON OCHO HERMANOS A SU ALREDEDOR. EL AZUL REPRESENTA A LA INFANTERÍA, EL ROJO LA ARTILLERÍA CON TODOS LOS BLANCOS QUE LOS COLORES DE LA BANDERA DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DE AMÉRICA.
