La imagen recoge tres de los más importantes monumentos históricos de la zona histórica del centro. El Hotel Plaza es un buen ejemplo del estilo Art Deco muy popular en la década de 1920. Está marcada por el ladrillo rojo y el verde techo terracota. Inaugurado en 1930 y diseñado por el famoso arquitecto Henry C. Trost, era uno de los más lujosos y de vanguardia. Tuvo que cerrar en 1991. Otra construcción de Trost es el Roberts-Banner edificio a la izquierda. Ejemplifica el uso de hormigón armado, también muy popular en ese momento. Se inauguró en 1910. El edificio Kress en el centro es el edificio más reciente (de 1938) pero sobresale por su decoración maravillosa. Fue diseñado por Edward Sibbert.
