Plaza Hotel en 1974

La imagen de 1976 muestra algunos de los edificios históricos de la zona centro de la ciudad. En el medio, se puede ver la Plaza Hotel, que fue construido en 1930 y destaca por su fachada de ladrillo rojo y el tejado de cobre. A la derecha, el Mills edificio es visible. Como el Hotel Plaza, fue construido por Henry C. Trost y fue en la década de 1910 uno de los más altos de edificios de concreto. En 1974, las ventanas del Mills edificio se cambiaron con bandas verticales de cristal de espejo, alterando radicalmente su apariencia. En la parte frontal del edificio, a la derecha de la imagen, San Jacinto Plaza puede ser visto. Partes de la Cortez en la esquina inferior derecha. En frente de la Plaza, otro Trost edificio de hormigón armado es visible, el Roberts-Banner edificio. La torre detrás de ella pertenece al edificio Kress, que es bien conocido por su extravagante exterior. A la izquierda de la Plaza el 1 Texas Tower puede ser visto, y detrás de ella son partes del Paso del Norte Hotel (ahora Camino Real).
