En las tradiciones de Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Centro América y América del Sur, la costumbre se le refiere como Quince (XV) Años, quinces, quinceañera, quinceañero o Fiesta Rosa. La celebración de una quinceañera tradicionalmente comienza con una ceremonia religiosa. Una recepción se lleva a cabo en el hogar o en un salón de banquetes. Las festividades incluyen comida y música, y en la mayoría, un vals coreografiado o danza interpretada por la quinceañera y su corte. Es tradicional que la quinceañera escoja sus amistades para participar de lo que se llama la corte de honor. Por lo general, estos jóvenes son sus amigos más cercanos, sus hermanos, hermanas, primos - la gente allegados en su vida con quien quiere compartir el centro de atención. La corte de honor de la quinceañera esta compuesto por las jóvenes llamadas dama y los jóvenes varones llamados chambelán, acompañante, galán o una combinación de ambos. La quinceañera tradicionalmente lleva un vestido de fiesta, su corte con vestidos y esmoquin.
