Presidente Harry Truman visita El Paso, Texas
26 de septiembre 1948. La primera persona a quien el Presidente buscó cuando bajó de su tren especial en el Union Depot el sábado por la mañana era Re. Ken Regan del Distrito 16a. "¿Dónde está Regan?" el Presidente preguntó a medida que los fotógrafos se acercaban para tomar fotos. El Sr. Truman busco entre el grupo y volvió a preguntar: "¿Dónde está Ken?" Regan estaba viajando en un coche por delante del Presidente y llegó a la plataforma antes que la mayoría del partido. La multitud comenzó a reunirse frente a Unión Depot alrededor de las 7:30 a.m. según W.G. Golden del Departamento de Parques de la Ciudad, quien fue uno de los guardias asignados a reservar los asientos adyacentes a la plataforma para la Banda de la Escuela Secundaria Austin. Golden comenzó su turno de guardia a las 6 a.m. El Presidente llegó a las 11 a.m.
