De 1889 a 1965, una pequeña congregación de cocodrilos habitan un oasis en el medio de San Jacinto Plaza en el centro de la ciudad en El Paso. La Plaza estaba lleno de hierba gruesa, Olmos chinos y un gran estanque con peces, tortugas y lagartos. Debido a vandalismo tuvieron que ser retirados. En 1972, la ciudad llevó a los caimanes de nuevo con un escudo de plástico, pero eso duro solo unos años antes de que fueran llevados de vuelta al zoológico. Ahora una escultura de fibra de vidrio por Luis Jimenez permanece de los cocodrilos.
