Edificio Mills

La imagen muestra Pioneer Plaza (Plaza de pioneros) y algunos de los edificios que la rodean. El alto edificio gris es el edificio Anson Mills. Se encuentra en el sitio original del rancho Ponce de León de 1832. Anson Mills contrató a Henry C. Trost del estudio de arquitectura Trost y Trost para diseñar y construir el edificio. Trost era el pionero más importante de la zona en el uso de concreto reforzado. Construido en 1910-1911, el edificio fue sólo el segundo rascacielos de armazón de concreto en los Estados Unidos y uno de los más grandes de todos los edificios de armazón de concreto. A unos 145 pies (44 m), el edificio Mills de 12 pisos fue el edificio más alto de El Paso cuando esté fue terminado. El edificio blanco a la izquierda se llama Casa Blanca Tienda de Departamento. Construido en 1912 por Trost, en un tiempo albergó una tienda y el Hotel McCoy. La Plaza, inaugurado en 1930 y en un tiempo uno de los mejores hoteles de la ciudad, se puede ver a la derecha en la imagen.
