Trolley in front of Gateway Hotel, 1960s
The image probably dates from the 1960s. It shows a trolley in front of the Gateway Hotel in downtown El Paso. The trolley connected El Paso with Ciudad Juarez and ran regularly between the two neighbor cities. Situated at 104 S. Stanton, the Gateway Hotel was closed in March 2014 due to safety reasons. Originally, it was built in 1902 and first housed offices and apartments. It 1927 O.T. Bassett transformed it into a hotel.
