La imagen está tomada de Mesa Garden, probablemente en la década de 1890. Muestra partes de El Paso, el Río Grande y México en el otro lado. El ferrocarril había llegado a El Paso en 1881. Aunque la ciudad crecía a diario debido a la llegada de hombres de negocios y trabajadores en la zona, todavía era muy pequeña en comparación con la actualidad.
