Desde la construcción del ferrocarril en El Paso en 1882, la ciudad era una importante parada que conectaba el este con el oeste de los Estados Unidos. La tren de mercancías llegaba y luego procesado y distribuido a locaciones en los Estado Unidos o México. También viajaban pasajeros. Este tren en la foto va para Alamogordo.
