Guest Room in Hilton Hotel
Guest Room in Hilton Hotel
The photograph shows one of the guest rooms at the Hilton Hotel in 1930, the year it was opened. Designed by Henry C. Trost, the hotel was characterized by the combination of semi-modernist lines with Indian design. The interior areas were luxury decorated, mirroring the state of the art: This room, as well as all the other rooms, featured fully electric lighting, ceiling fans, radios and private bathrooms. It served as one of El Paso's most luxurious hotels; even Elisabeth Taylor briefly lived here in 1950/51. In 1963, the Hilton Hotel was sold and operated as the Plaza Hotel until 1990, when it was closed.
