El Presidente del Tribunal Supremo de Texas, Richard Barajas (RET), Director de Admisión Temprana, y Profesor de Gobierno en la Escuela Secundaria Cathedral (CHS) ha anunciado que diez de los estudiantes del Centro de Estudios Avanzados (CAS) han sido nombrados Becarios del Milenio Gates 2014 (GMS).
El objetivo de la GMS, que se creó en 1999 con una subvención de 1.000 millones de dólares de la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates, es promover la excelencia académica y ofrecer una oportunidad a los estudiantes destacados de las minorías para que alcancen su máximo potencial.
Nuestros estudiantes fueron seleccionados de un grupo nacional de 50.000 solicitantes que demostraron necesidad financiera, los más altos estándares académicos, servicio comunitario innovador y cualidades excepcionales de liderazgo. JOSE NEGRETE hijo de José fue nombrado para el premio.
Los estudiantes de la Catedral nombrados Becarios del Milenio de Gates 2014 son Jorge A. Barrio, José-Roberto Delgado, Martin Jeffers, Anthony J. Jewett, Aldo M. Jordan, Oscar Loya, José A. Negrete, Christian Ortiz, Isaac M. Sotelo y David P. Torres. Estos diez estudiantes del último año de la CHS, todos ellos estudiantes de doble crédito del El Paso Community College, forman parte de los 21 becarios Gates que la CAS ha producido desde 2009, con lo que el total de becarios nombrados en la escuela ha alcanzado la cifra sin precedentes de 31. El año pasado la CHS produjo seis GMS de la generación de 2013.
El Centro de Estudios Avanzados del CHS es conocido por desarrollar una de las mayores concentraciones de talento educativo a lo largo de la frontera entre Texas y México. Durante los últimos dos años, el CHS ha sido el receptor de becas de GMS más representado en el estado de Texas y el segundo en la nación.
La Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates estableció esta iniciativa para alentar y apoyar a los estudiantes a completar la universidad y a seguir obteniendo maestrías y doctorados. Los premios permiten a miles de jóvenes estadounidenses asistir a las instituciones de licenciatura y de posgrado de su elección y los preparan para asumir importantes papeles como líderes en sus profesiones y en sus comunidades.

Cathedral High School -Cathedral High Sschool Los Que Van Quedando Alumni Association (LQVQ) - Board of Director for 2017. Mr. Bradley Roe, CHS graduated of 1958 and has held LQVQ office such as president for 9 years. He has been on the Tamalada Scholarship committee for 12 years.
Bradley graduated from Cathedral High School in1958, entered UTEP 1964, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering degree in 1964.
Bradley married the former Bambina Saroldi in 1964, and their children are: Bradley Lewis married to Sandra Chavaria, and the grandchildren are: Caira, Bradle, Adriana; Gina married to Jim Davis, son Jonpaul is single; Carina married Miguel Sáez, and the grandchildren are Isabella, and Giana.
Bradley held many career positions to include; US Army Corps Engineers 1964-66, and while with Robert E McKee he worked on several different projects such as the Engineer Student Union Bldg. The Ticket Baggage at the East Satellite airport 1966-70. Bradley also worked for: Cremens Engineering 1970-74; Conde Engineering 1974-78; Bradley Roe General Contractor Custom Homes Medical Complexes 1978-2014, and Roe Engineering subdivision work grading drainage water sewer all surveying to include construction staking in 1982-2014

Sergio graduated from Cathedral in 1959, He is a published author of several historical books.

John R. Armendariz is a Cathedral High School graduate of the class of 1959. John attended the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where he received his degree. He was awarded a Masters of Science in Engineering, plus 30 hours. Johnny was born in El Paso, Texas on 6 July 1941. Johnny joined the Texas National Guard and served four years. John served as a mathematician and division supervisor for the United States Army Ari Defense Artillery School (USAADASch) at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon retirement Johnny was teaching at Park University at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Johnny is married to Elaine and they have two sons and two daughters.
