Edificio W.S. Hills - El Paso, Tejas

En 1936, Tom Lea tenía su estudio en el segundo piso de este edificio anteriormente llamado Edificio W.S. Hill. Lea construyó un andamio y trabajó en proyectos gubernamentales, incluyendo los murales en el edificio Hall of State Building en Dallas y el "Paso del Norte" en el histórico Palacio de Justicia Federal en El Paso. En su estudio, Tom Lea conoció por primera vez al editor y diseñador de libros Carl Hertzog, el escultor español Urbici Soler, y el conocido escritor texano J. Frank Dobie. Tom Lea dijo después de recordar el día en que Carl Hertzog llamó a la puerta de su estudio: "Fue una de esas reuniones que todos tenemos el privilegio de tener unas cuantas veces en nuestras vidas: nos estrechamos la mano como extraños y unos momentos después estamos platicando como viejos amigos ". - Tom Lea, A Picture Gallery, 1968 (una galería de imágenes).
