San Jacinto Plaza 1910s
The image shows San Jacinto Plaza which was the center of the town in the beginning of the 20th century. The Plaza was filled with thick grass, Chinese elms and a large pond with fish, turtles and alligators. The alligators lived there from 1889 to 1965. Due to vandalism they had to be removed. In the picture one sees people sitting on benches or observing the alligators in the pond.
