Hotel Laughlin, El Paso, Texas
The Laughlin Hotel is part of the Old San Francisco District. A partial composite of this neighborhood between 1914 and 1924 reveals the prevalence of apartment buildings, One neighborhood bar, the Texas Tavern at 315 West Missouri, served patrons from 1916 until 1920, when the Volstead Act ushered in the Prohibition era. A scene in "The Getaway" starring Steve Mc Queen was filmed in the Laughlin. It was located where the Chihuhahua´s stadium is now. At the time of filming, the convention center was under construction by R.E. McKee and the frame work for the Abraham Chavez Theater can be seen in the background. https://www.elpasotexas.gov/development_services/_documents/OldSanFranciscoHistoricDistrictDesignGuidelines.pdf http://www.themoviedistrict.com/the-getaway-1972/3/
