Evan Haywood Antone and Carl Hertzog wrote book entitled From Strength to Strength: A Centennial History of First Presbyterian Church of El Paso 1882-1982. Library of Congress catalog Card Number 82-083975. Picture of very first church(not image above) is in Millard G. Mc Kinney Collection in UTEP Library Special Collections. First church was built of Mt. Franklin limestone was at the corner of North Kansas and Myrtle Ave in 1882. Residence of Judge Josiah Crosby was next door on Myrtle. Dedication occurred March 7, 1883. Visitors from other El Paso churches came in great number especially to the morning service, for the various denominations often showed a high degree of cooperation and fellowship. Ministers frequently substituted and occupied pulpits in neighboring churches as well as alternating preaching duties at the Union Tent. Membership in 1883 was twenty-seven. During 1884, an addidtional twenty-four members were received. Architecturally first church was designed in English Gothic style. Total cost of land and building was about $6,000 of which $2,000 was paid by Presbyterian Board of Church Erection.

Note that streets appear unpaved.
