Anita Lee Blair (1916-2011) born in Oklahoma City came to El Paso in 1924, An educator, lecturer, political activist, and state legislator, advocated for safety and accident prevention, disability and women’s rights, and transparency in local and state government. Blair was the first woman to represent El Paso in the Texas State Legislature and Frist blind woman to legislative office in Texas.. Photo taken in 1966.
