Anita Blair and seeing-eye dog, Rita

Anita Blair, the first blind woman to hold any state legislative office in Texas and the first woman to represent El Paso in the Texas State Legislature. She was elected in 1952.

March is Women's History Month annually in the USA. UTEP Library Special Collections has Anita Blair collection and her photos are in El Paso-Herald Post collection.
