Jan 21, 1922- May 30, 2021. Jean grew up in Iowa and in 1939 began 4 years at Loretto Heights College in Denver. When studying sociology with Sr. Felicia Corrigan, Jean learned about injustice and gained an awareness of the poor. In 1963, Jean traveled on a cargo ship with others to Santialgo, Chille. Those sisters of Loretto in Chile were the first to receive the mission of adult education. In 1969 she moved to Bolivia and lived among the Aymara speaking people. She returned in 1977 to work in La Jara Colorado, later NM, and El Paso, TX. Jean did what the people needed: ESL or individualized learning. She was always a joy for those around her.
Framed photo was part of exhibit honoring Bicentennial of Sisters of Loretto. women included Anthony Sartorius, SL. Sister Helen Santamaria, Sr.Pat Williams, and Sr. Buffy Boesen who served as president of Loretto Academy. Sr. Buffy held the position for over two decades.
