JLEP- Driving out Hunger 2020-2021 Project

The Driving Out Hunger committee was fortunate to be in a position to address one of the greatest needs of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic: hunger. We were able to partner with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank and donated $26,500 to their Home Delivery Program, which delivers groceries to vulnerable, homebound El Paso residents. Our donation fed an estimated 1,500 families. Additionally, Junior League of El Paso members spent hundreds of hours “driving out hunger” by helping to deliver groceries each week. We were humbled and overjoyed to witness the participation of so many JLEP members and sustainers in these deliveries. Since March of 2020, it is estimated that the Home Delivery Program as a whole has distributed over 1.5 million boxes of food to El Paso families.
