Thomas J. Beall
Thomas J. Beall was born in Georgia on May 12, 1836. Bealle studied law at the University of Lebanon, Tennessee. He joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War. In 1866 established the law firm Davis, Beall, and Kemp the predecessor of Kemp Smith LLP (the second oldest law firm in the state of Texas). He served as the President of the Board of Trustees of El Paso Independent School District. He also served as the President of the Bar Association of Texas. He was a member of El Paso Lodge No. 130 A.F. & A.M. and El Paso Commandery No. 18. More notably - he served as Grand Commander of Knights Templar of Texas from 1893-1894. In addition, he helped organize the chapter of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and was the first exalted ruler.
