William Wallace Mills
William Wallace Mills born in Thorntown, Indiana. He accompanied his brother Anson to the town of Franklin which would become "El Paso". He was accepted to West Point Military Academy but never attended. He was a member of El Paso Lodge # 130 A.F. & A.M. During the Civil War many El Pasoans were supporters of the Confederacy. Mills and his brother were Union supporters. As a result, he never forgave nor forgot Simeon Hart's treatment. Hart belonged to El Paso Lodge # 130 A.F. & A.M. and masons met in his home off and on. During a meeting of the lodge, both men got into a heated debate. In the minutes, however, the meeting was ended with peace and harmony. Mills was named as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. He and his wife moved to Austin, Texas, and spent the rest of their years there.
