Train crossing Birch at Chico 12-19-08b
The El Paso and Northeastern Railroad Company was chartered on June 5, 1896. It was to connect El Paso with a point on the boundary line between Texas and New Mexico twenty miles northeast of the city. El Paso was a remote frontier town until railroads arrived in 1881. http://texasmountaintrail.com/plan-your-adventure/historic-sites-and-cities/sites/railroad-and-transportation-museum-el-paso
