"Vaquero"
This statue called "Vaquero" was created by Luis Jimenez, Jr.. It was made out of polychrome fiberglass in the 1980s. On loan, the pistol-wielding, bronco-bucking Mexican cowboy was installed in front of the Museum of Art for 13 years (since 1998). In October 2011 it was removed from El Paso. It was sent to Walmart heiress Alice Walton in Arkansas, who has amassed a multimillion-dollar collection of American art dating back five centuries. The well-known artist Luis Jimenez died in 2006.
