The Popular Dry Good Company
The Popular department store chain, founded by Adolph Schwartz, was family owned and run from 1902 to its closing in 1995. The building was originally the Masonic a Lodge 130 --using the lower floor til Adolph Schwartz purchased the building and expanded.
Image Description: In this black and white photo, the building that housed the Popular Dry Good Company is depicted. Here is where Adolph Schwartz started that family-run business, which was open from 1902 and closed in 1995. The words “The Popular Dry Goods Co.” are running along the side of the building, and older cars are parked outside on the streets.
