" I, Thaddeus Kosiuszko, having departed America, (...) do hereby authorize my friend Thomas Jefferson to bestow upon (slaves) liberty in my name, and give them an education in trades or otherwise, 1798 (...)". Gen Kosciuszko's English will became immensely important political document, raising the issue, unsolved by the American Revolution, of the African American Slavery. This problem was also noticed by Poles who had the occasion to travel in the young republic.
