Caples Building
The Caples Building at the corner San Antonio Street / Mesa Street was designed by Henry C. Trost for Richard Caples, a former mayor of El Paso, in 1909. It was the first reinforced concrete structure in the city and originally contained five stories. Two additional stories were added in 1915/16. During the first years of the Mexican Revolution, Francisco I. Madero, the leader of the revolution, used parts of the building as headquarters for his provisional government.
