Ismael "Milo" Valenzuela - 1950's
Ismael "Milo" Valenzuela with a friend at the track. Milo won his first Kentucky Derby in 1958 on Tim Tam. Milo is one of the forefathers and trailblazers for the Hispanic and Latino Racing community. He is viewed by many as the "Jackie Robinson" of his time in his sport. Congratulations on your deserving Hall of Fame Award.

The man next to Milo was not Milo's younger brother, But rather, Milo's cousin. Tio Polo was my father's (Aurelio Valenzuela) younger brother. Wonderful tradition both past and present!
The man with the broken leg standing next to Milo is his younger brother , Apolonio who was also a jockey and later a teacher at Riverside High school. He was my Father in Law and a wonderful man. RIP Polo.
