Kleyhauers and Friends by Juarez Jail, May 11, 1911
Kleyhauers y amistades junto a la cárcel de Juarez, 11 de mayo de 1911
Kleyhauers and Friends by Juarez Jail, May 11, 1911
On the day after the Battle of Ciudad Juarez, May 11, 1911, my grandparents Alfred and Annie Kleyhauer and other Americans went from El Paso into Juarez to see the city and Pancho Villa's rebel fighters. Alfred and Annie are in the lower left corner--my grandmother has the hat with the flowers and is arm in arm with my grandfather. The other two Americans are friends from El Paso who went with them. This photo was taken by a commercial photographer and it shows the old Juarez jail with many people outside looking at the Diaz soldiers and others who were taken during the Battle the day before. The writing on the photo states, "A scene after the Fight. May 11, 1911. Jail. Juarez Mex. Looking at prisoners"
