This picture shows Hubert Humphrey speaking at El Paso International Airport on October 23, 1968. He served as the 38th Vice President of the United States under President Lyndon B. Johnson, from 1965 to 1969. In 1968/69 Humphrey competed for the Democratic Party in the 1968 presidential election. He carried El Paso over 1700 votes, but he lost to the Republican nominee, Richard Nixon. Nixon spoke at the El Paso Airport a few days later.
