Joseph Magoffin

Joseph Magoffin, El Paso mayor and civic leader, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was a four-term mayor of El Paso and a county judge. In 1856 he joined his father at the site of present El Paso, Texas, where the elder Magoffin had settled after the Mexican War. The Magoffins were militant supporters of secession. Behind him is a brown background where his shadow barely seen. His hair is nicely combed and slicked back, showing hints of gray hair near his temples. His hair directly connects to his long black and gray beard that barely touches his chest. His mustache is full and curves downward then slightly upward past his bottom lip.
