Manny Ortega - 1940 - 1949 - El Paso, Texas
Manny Ortega never got a title shot. What he did do to prove that he was really the best in the world and king of the sport was the following: KO'd World Champion Jackie Callura in three rounds; KO'd World Champion Jackie Wilson in the tenth round; TKO'd the greatest featherweight champion in history, Manny Ortiz, in the eighth round. He was trained by the famous El Paso legend Alkie Nicholson. Unfortunately for Manny Ortega boxing was controlled by Frankie Carbo and Mafia connections.
