“Identity Theories” by “Lux Boreal”
The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, Centro Cultural Mexicano Paso del Norte and The Chamizal National Memorial presented the contemporary dance show “Identity Theories” by the renowned Mexican company “Lux Boreal”. “Identity Theories” This contemporary dance show, comprised by 7 scenes and carried out by 9 performers on stage, takes the audience into a journey to discover, through body language, a sense of belonging, human relations and isolation, motivating with it the search for the identity needed to withstand reality. “Lux Boreal” The contemporary dance company "Lux Boreal" (Northern Lights) was founded in 2002 by Henry Torres and Angel Arámbula. Currently it is based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. It is integrated by choreographers and dancers from different cities of Mexico and the United States, converging through dance towards a common language to express their vision of reality through art. Comprised of 11 full time members, collaborators and guests artists, "Lux Boreal" is part of a binational art movement that strengthens the bonds between communities of Mexico and the United States. Since its creation, "Lux Boreal" has taken its artistic proposal to important festivals in Mexico and countries like Chile, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Spain, Latvia, Brazil, Argentina, France, Ireland, Germany and Romania, among others. For its achievements into the national art scene, "Lux Boreal" has the support of the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) through its "Mexico on Stage" program since 2007; since 2008 it has been part of "Walk of Fame in Tijuana," same year in which it received the "Audience Award" at the International Dance Festival Lila Lopez of San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and in 2009 it was selected by the US National Dance Magazine as the "25 to watch".
