Mexico presents the sculpture “Flame of Friendship”
Although national boundaries are an important point of separation, the existing bonds between Mexico and the United States in the Paso del Norte border region are sustained by a strong and unwavering sense of unity. We not only share history and cultural ties, but also economic integration and strong government collaboration, founding a closely tied binational community with a shared brilliant future. In recognition of this unique relationship, the Consulate General of Mexico at El Paso, Texas, requested Mexican master artist Leonardo Nierman to donate the sculpture “Flame of Friendship” as a gesture of friendship from the People of Mexico to the City of El Paso. This art piece was especially designed to underline the existing bonds between our societies. “Flame of Friendship” is a polished, stainless – steel 5.5 meters high sculpture with the shape of a flame, which evokes movement and harmony. It is a genuine expression of Leonardo Nierman’s work, which has been classified as “magical expressionism”.
