St. Ignatius' School First Grade Class

St. Ignatius Parish was the third church founded by Padre Pinto following the establishment of Sacred Heart and Immaculate Conception Parishes. Its history is intricately tied to the development and growth of the Segundo Barrio. The original chapel became the basis of St. Ignatius School with two large classrooms and a hall. The now familiar façade of St. Ignatius, designed by the architectural firm of Trost and Trost, was completed in 1921.By the time a new school building was completed in 1919, St. Ignatius was the largest Catholic school in El Paso with 750 students.
