Solar Aztec Calendar Pavilion
Pavellón del Calendario Solar Azteca
Solar Aztec Calendar Pavilion
This Aztec Calendar Pavilion is situated at the corners of Mesa and Missouri streets. It is solar-powered and it is a gazebo-type structure with the Aztec calendar, made of Corten steel, light condensers, crystal prisms and solar panels, as its roof. Built in 2009, City officials hope that the pavilion brings a combination of technology, green energy and art to Downtown El Paso. When the sun hits the Aztec calendar from above, it projects the image onto the ground below.
