Grocery Store in Sunset Heights
The picture shows the Sunset Grocery store, situated in the historic district Sunset Heights, at 700 Mundy Drive. Opened in 1913 in the Sunset Heights Area. It all started over 100 years ago in a booming neighborhood further impacted by the Mexican Revolution. Mr. William Rosing built the famous apartment-grocery store "complex". which remains as a monument to thousands of El Pasoans. John Karr called it the flagship of Sunset Heights. The store has remained in the same location with three different street names as it's address. It's a favorite subject of many local artists, including Tom Lea.Tom Lea's famous painting of this El Paso Landmark can be seen in the El Paso Museum of Art.
