Ascarate Elementary School
Ascarate Elementary School
Located in an area steeped in history that dates back to the1800's, Ascarate was first named for the Ascarate Land Grant. The original building was constructed in 1934 to alleviate the over population in the vicinity schools of Cadwallader and Ysleta Grade of the El Paso County School System. Ascarate School opened its door in September, 1935, and the original building consisted of only six classrooms, two restrooms, a boiler room, and two small offices. Two years after opening its doors it became evident the school was too small and the first of many additions to the school was completed with the latest addition in 1994. Our newest additions include the Library Media Center and cafeteria. The old cafeteria was turned into the Science lab, band and orchestra room. Ascarate continues to add charm and character to our community.
